At just 17, Star Miles is already proving that determination, talent, and community support can reshape the future of a young person’s life. Her journey—spanning school struggles, home challenges, and a path through the programs Exalt Youth and Devil Dog USA—is a story not only of personal growth, but of inspiration for youth across the Bronx and beyond.
When Star first entered the Exalt program, she describes herself as “quiet and not as talkative.” But over time, she learned to open up. She realized that asking for help was not weakness but strength—an understanding that would carry her forward into the workforce and into her artistic journey.

“I managed to be more open over time and learned that it’s okay to have assistance rather than always doing it alone,” she said.
Through Exalt, she developed the resilience to face obstacles head-on. Through Devil Dog USA, she found community, mentorship, and a sense of belonging that had been missing. “They’ve shown me a community like no other, and I felt like I belonged,” Star explained.
Her internship with Devil Dog USA offered practical lessons, workplace confidence, and even on-air media experience—her first time in front of cameras. That experience, she says, gave her excitement and confidence for what lies ahead.
Beyond the internship, Star has been building an artistic career since she first picked up a pencil at the age of seven. Today, she balances digital art with traditional drawing, taking inspiration from anime, her friends, and characters like Labubu. Her style blends playful creativity with messages of love, togetherness, and bonds.

She describes her creative process with maturity beyond her years: brainstorming, sketching, and refining until her characters come to life. Even setbacks—moments of self-doubt or creative block—are reframed as resets, opportunities to come back stronger.
Asked what advice she would share with other young artists, Star didn’t hesitate:

“Be yourself and do what you love, no matter what people tell you.”
Star Miles goals are clear. In the workforce, she hopes to build a small commission art business on social media, creating for others and spreading joy through her work. Personally, she is striving to be the best version of herself—someone who turns challenges into opportunities and never accepts that her efforts are “not enough.” The lessons she has gained from exalt and Devil Dog USA are not temporary; they are the foundation for a career, for resilience, and for a lifelong pursuit of excellence. Her story is proof that when young people are given the right opportunities, they not only discover their own voice but inspire others to listen.
