Leadership
Gonzalo Duran is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Big Apple Gazette. A Bronx native and former United States Marine Corps sergeant, he entered journalism through community advocacy and independent reporting focused on issues affecting veterans and local communities.
He contributed to local publications including the Bronx Chronicle and later served as a senior reporter at the Bronx Daily, covering civic forums, community events, and public policy discussions across New York City.
The Big Apple Gazette launched in May 2024 as a platform for community centered journalism across the five boroughs. In March 2026 Duran was formally named Editor-in-Chief as the publication expanded its coverage and contributor network.
Editorial Team
The Big Apple Gazette operates as a collaborative newsroom made up of journalists, photographers, writers, and multimedia contributors working together to document civic life across New York City.
Members of the editorial team participate in reporting, writing, photography, research, and field coverage throughout the five boroughs. Coverage includes community events, political developments, cultural initiatives, and stories affecting neighborhoods across the city.
