Tyreek Goodman is stepping into the political arena with his first campaign for the New York State Assembly, challenging incumbent Assemblywoman Amanda Septimo in the 84th District. Driven by the principle of “being the change you wish to see,” Goodman joined the Bronx Conservative Party this year and is running on the Conservative line.
Goodman is the Chief Executive Officer of EpicRev Vision and the President of EpicRev TV, two organizations focused on fostering community cooperation and engagement. His work includes organizing community clean-ups, pop-up shops, and themed events like Veterans Day celebrations and mental health workshops. Through EpicRev TV, Goodman provides a platform for music videos, interviews, and youth engagement, helping young people share their voices, talents, and stories within the community.
Running for office has been a powerful experience for Goodman. “If you had told me four years ago that I’d be on the same ballot as Vice President Harris and Former President Trump, I wouldn’t have believed it,” he says. “It’s a rare opportunity, and once it came my way, my mission was clear: to inspire and educate. I believe I’ve done both. It feels great to have my voice heard, and I’m honored by the possibility of becoming the voice my community needs.”
Reflecting on the lessons he’s learned, Goodman emphasizes the importance of integrity. “One thing I’ve learned in politics is to be careful where you take money from; everyone has their own agenda,” he explains. “You have to stand firm on your beliefs, listen to others’ opinions, but in the end, you have to show what kind of leader you intend to be from day one. If you’re truly committed to change, be wary of those who might try to exploit your goodwill.”
Goodman’s campaign focuses on three core platforms: youth engagement, civic participation, and improving quality of life in the Bronx.
“Youth involvement is essential to me,” he says. “I want more young people from my area to get into politics. I learned this year that at 16, you can join your community board and enroll in a political party, even if you can’t vote until 18. This is a valuable opportunity to bring young voices into our local government.”
In terms of civic engagement, Goodman is committed to encouraging broader community involvement. “I want to increase participation in local politics—whether it’s joining community boards, neighborhood associations, or even running for office. Civic involvement is essential for a strong, vibrant community.”
Goodman is also passionate about enhancing quality of life for Bronx residents. “I live in public housing, and while I’m grateful, I believe there’s room for progress for myself and my neighbors. I want to inspire others with my journey and work toward improvements that benefit not only my neighborhood but the entire Bronx.”
Looking to the future, Goodman’s goals are clear. “I intend to keep learning and continue the work I’ve started. Win or lose, the work doesn’t stop. Running for local office has opened many doors, and now, yes—I’m a politician,” he laughs. “I’ve gained insight into how to help my community, whether I hold office or not, and to ensure that resources reach the people who need them most.”
Goodman’s aims to be the leader his community needs—someone who understands its challenges, stands firmly by his values, and is deeply committed to positive change. With his sights set on building a legacy of service, Goodman is focused on making his mark, and he hopes that in future races, his work will garner additional support from the Republican Party.
Though he currently runs as a Conservative candidate, Goodman views this campaign as the start of a long journey in public service, one through which he can continue advocating for the Bronx and striving to inspire his community.
