In our tireless quest to find the best fried chicken, we searched all four corners of the Bronx. Although many places offer decent and good fried chicken, Equis Pica Pollo stood out above the rest.
For our study, we sampled fried chicken from various establishments, encompassing different ethnic varieties and cooking styles. Towards the end of our search, we faced a challenging decision, as many places offered good fried chicken. However, at the last minute, Equis Pica Pollo emerged as the undisputed best!
During our visit to Equis Pica Pollo, the crowds filled both the inside and outside of the establishment. Inside, the workers continuously served fried chicken, fries, and tostones (fried green plantains).
We made multiple visits at different times and days throughout the week to ensure consistent quality, and Equis Pica Pollo delivered every time. We even brought guests with us each time and asked for their reviews without giving them too many details.
While they offer many other dishes, we focused on their fried chicken and observed that most customers did the same. We hope to try their oven-roasted chicken and other menu items in the future.
A heads-up for first-timers: Equis Pica Pollo is a pickup-and-go establishment, not a sit-down restaurant. If you go during normal meal times, peak hours, you will face long lines, but the staff is fast and friendly. You might even get lucky and receive a piece of chicken while you wait, which seems to be customary based on our frequent visits.
We plan to expand this award to the remaining four boroughs and invite our readers to share their go-to spots or recommended locations claiming to be the best. We look forward to verifying these claims and enjoying more delicious fried chicken along the way.
