La Gorda is the neighborhood’s beloved bodega cat. I first met her two years ago, and she instantly made an impression. Hiding inside the fridge, she gave me quite a scare, but the store owners assured me that “she is just like that.” La Gorda is very independent but hardworking. As you can see from this photo, she stands guard diligently and takes her job very seriously.
