Gonzalo Duran, newly elected Vice Chairman of the Bronx County Conservative Party and candidate for the 15th Congressional District, stated that he expected the Bronx Democratic Machine to eventually push back against their progress over the last two years. According to Duran, the criticism of the Bronx is MAGA Rally was the final confirmation that their efforts are gaining significant momentum.
He explained that the rally was a collaborative effort, led by the Bronx Conservative Party leadership, with Duran himself as a primary organizer. Party Chairman Patrick McManus, Bronx is MAGA Coalition Chairman Christopher Reid, and 14th Congressional candidate Tina Forte also playing key roles. Together, Duran says, they’ve built a movement that can no longer be ignored.
Democratic leaders, particularly Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson and Congressman Ritchie Torres, have recently voiced opposition to the event, even posting directly on social media. Duran finds it ironic that their criticism has only fueled the movement, stating that their words have inadvertently brought more attention to the rally and its growing support.
Duran highlighted his own efforts within the Conservative Party, noting that he personally helped register or update over 250 new Bronx Conservatives. This effort contributed to a 15% increase in membership across the borough last year, and Duran is confident this year’s growth will approach 25%. Many of the new registrants are former Democrats, like Duran himself, who believe that Democratic policies no longer serve the community.
“These new members are now active in the party—as candidates, supporters, and volunteers,” Duran added. “They’ve helped us organize events, maintain our office, and increase our presence.”
Duran concluded by emphasizing that the more criticism they receive, the more Bronx residents are waking up. “The outdated tactics of the Bronx Democratic Machine are pushing people like me, and many others, to challenge their control over our community. Our movement is steadily growing.”
On Congressman Ritchie Torres, Duran pointed out that they haven’t crossed paths in years and noted the lack of engagement from Torres during this election cycle. Duran wondered aloud whether Torres even realized that the Bronx is MAGA Rally would take place in the 15th Congressional District—an event Duran is helping to organize. “His silence speaks volumes,” Duran remarked, “but we’ll keep moving forward, one voter at a time.”
