Made in PR Latin Cuisine & Sports Bar: A Taste of the Island in the Bronx

Stepping into Made in Puerto Rico Latin Cuisine and Sports Bar feels like being instantly transported to the heart of the island. Since my last visit to Puerto Rico in 2023, I had not encountered a meal that so authentically captured the vibrant flavors and spirit of Puerto Rican cuisine—until now.

Located in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx, this restaurant offers more than just food—it delivers a full cultural experience. From the moment I sat down, I was immersed in the essence of the island, with its vibrant décor, rhythmic Latin music, and unmistakable aromas filling the air. Each dish is crafted with such care and attention to detail that it felt as though I was enjoying a home-cooked meal in a local Puerto Rican household—rich in tradition and flavor.

I am already looking forward to my next visit, and this time, I will be bringing along a few of my colleagues—fellow food enthusiasts who, like me, appreciate the delicate art of a well-made dish. I have no doubt they will agree: Made in Puerto Rico truly captures the essence of the island’s culinary heritage.

On this visit, I opted for the Chuleta Kan Kan (Pork Chop Mohawk), a dish I have only ever seen in Puerto Rico. The pork chop was perfectly cooked—tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. It was served with a fresh salad, white rice, and savory beans. Each component was cooked to perfection and presented exactly as I had requested. To drink, I chose a virgin Piña Colada, a refreshing and tropical reminder of the island. For those looking to enhance their dining experience, the restaurant also offers a full bar, ideal for enjoying a leisurely evening with friends.

While the restaurant enforces a two-hour dining limit and includes an automatic 20% gratuity, these policies are understandable given the popularity and high demand of the area. The quality of the food and the lively atmosphere more than compensate for these minor restrictions. Additionally, for those who prefer to pay with cash, the restaurant offers a 3% discount from the credit card fee.

Made in Puerto Rico Latin Cuisine and Sports Bar is a must-visit for anyone craving an authentic taste of the island, right here in New York City. Whether you are there to savor the exquisite cuisine or soak up the vibrant atmosphere, this is an experience that will leave you longing for more.
